Who We Are

Founder / Master Welder / MFCEO

My name is Zach Arnold and I am the Owner of Arnold Quality Metal Works, a Precision Welding Shop in Logan, Ut,

I live in Providence, Utah with my Gorgeous Wife of 11 years, our 3 Beautiful Daughters and 1 son, 2 Great Danes and a Black Lab, a Giant Cat named Odin, and a handful of Chickens.

Since the time I was a small child I can remember being fascinated by Metal and the Craftsmen that work this amazing material.

When I was a teenager, my growing love of motorcycles and all things awesome ignited my pursuit of the skills required for such dreams. I began taking Welding classes at my local Technical College.

Upon completion of my schooling I set off into the workforce, learning and honing my skills over the next decade building everything from handrails and structural steel, to containers to ship nozzles for Space Shuttle Rockets and Barrier systems to protect US Navy ports around the World. I have built Wireline Trucks, Gangways for the USS George Washington, High Pressure Compression Systems to open new Gas Fields in the Middle East, and countless other varying projects covering many Industries.

It didn't take me long to realize the what Industry Standards had labeled as acceptable Quality Levels, and what I thought Acceptable Quality was, were two different things.

Over the years I learned that doing lower quality work, skipping steps, cutting corners all in the name of saving money, producing an inferior product, or spending hours on rework was not the way things should be done. I didn't believe in it, and I know I'm not alone in my thoughts.

So in February of 2017 I founded Arnold Quality Metal Works, based on the following Core Values:

Honor. We do whats right, even when it is not the Easy choice.

Pride. In the work that we do, paying attention to every detail. Pride in the things we are able to accomplish through Power of Will.

Respect. For our work, for the processes, and for our daily interactions.

Discipline. This is the oil that keeps our finely tuned Machine moving forward and progressing.

Ingenuity. We will solve any problem that we face. We provide solutions, not excuses.

Industriousness. We focus on the task at hand, and Conquer every Mission we Accept. We will outwork Everyone!

Attention to Detail. In all aspects of Life and Business, we know that nothing but our absolute best is acceptable.

This is more than just a Welding and Fabrication Shop, This is a Way of Life.

I love to build cool stuff with my hands.  It started a long time ago as a little kid, it seemed like I was always playing with hands on, creative toys.  From creating sculptures of animals with clay and playdough, to building tall buildings and crazy vehicles out of Legos and K’NEX.

As I grew up, the love for building and creating never went away.  The first time I struck a weld arc, I was a junior in high school.  A very limited entry level of the welding trade, but it immediately became a passion. Cutting, grinding, melting, manipulating steel into whatever I wanted to create.  What was once build out of toys, is now built out of steel.  During my senior year of high school, I enrolled in the Welding Technology program at Bridgerland Technical College.  That year, I completed the basic welding course while earning a full-ride scholarship to complete the advanced welding course after graduating high school.  With the advanced welding course complete, it was time to make a living in the welding and fabrication industry!

I have spent over thirteen years working in only a couple of fabrication shops fabricating structural and miscellaneous steel.  A lot of the work was structural columns, beams, trusses, complex frames, stair stringers, guardrails, and canopies.  There was also the tight tolerance TIG welding on stainless-steel, aluminum, bronze and other kinds of high-end non-ferrous metals.  The most memorable projects have been a 50 foot long aluminum plate “Hakka” chandelier, stainless and aluminum tooling fixtures and platforms for multiple military branches, and a couple of secret projects that turned out to be amusement park rides.

During my time in the shop, I became an inspector and was part of the Quality Assurance and Quality Control program.  I have been a Certified Weld Inspector for twelve years now.  Quality quickly became a priority for me, and I have been striving for the highest quality in everything I do ever since.

To me, quality is good or bad, there is no middle ground or settling with “just ok”.  I am a perfectionist, as annoying as it is at times.

Being the ambitious person I am, I wanted to learn more about the steel fabrication industry, and work towards being promoted to other important roles such as project management and estimating.  I have been actively working at both of those roles for 6 years now.  My mindset about quality, experience in quality assurance, and my project management skills have brought me to Arnold Quality Metal Works as the VP of Business Development.

Throughout all these years of developing my career, I’ve had my incredible wife by my side, supporting me in everything I have done.  She is successful and amazing in her career as a Utah Realtor.  Together we have two young boys, and she is also the stepmother to my oldest daughter.  Our life is crazy and hectic at times with all our kids, animals, hobbies and professional schedules.  But I wouldn’t change a thing!
